Original 1946 Dated 1946 Pattern British Army Battledress Blouse

SOLD

Code: 54535

A good example of the rare 1946 pattern battledress blouse dated 1946.

This pattern of blouse had a very short service life coming in just after the end of the Second World War, only to be superseded by the 1947 pattern blouse a year later. Due to this pattern having such a short service history these blouses are now somewhat rare.

The jacket is made from the standard khaki coloured serge wool and features pleated breast pockets and a fly front. As well as this the collar is open face but can be fastened to the neck which is another notable feature of this pattern. There is evidence of where shoulder titles have been fitted previously.

Inside the blouse the original label is still present and bears the incorrect title of 'Battledress Blouse 1940 Pattern'. The 1946 date is still clear however as is the makers name 'Dunlop Rubber Co'. The size on the label is No. 9 and states that it will fit a 39-40" chest and a 34-35" waist.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 23"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 22"

The condition of the blouse is very good indeed and it displays very well. There is a hole to the collar and some holes to the cuff which are illustrated in the pictures and reflected in the price.

Overall a very nice battledress of a rare pattern which would make a nice addition to any battledress collection.
