Original 1960s Men's PVC Oilskin Coat by 'Harvingale'

SOLD

Code: 54529

An original British men's PVC oilskin coat made in Romford in the 1960s.

This style of coat was very popular for many years with fishermen, dockers and other people employed to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions. Made from a black oilskin which was chosen for its fantastic waterproof qualities, the coat features rubber buttons and a round collar. There is a section of yellow lining to the shoulders to add additional protection to the wearer.

The original label is still present to the interior and states the manufacturer's name as 'Harvingale' of Romford in Essex. Below this is a small size tage which reads '40' and denotes the chest size. When laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 24"
Inside arm - 19 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 32 1/2"

The coat is in good condition with limited signs of wear and age. There is heavy wear and a repair to the lowest button hole and a tear to each sleeve. These flaws are illustrated in the pictures so please study them and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn workwear item and may have small issues commensurate with this.

A good example of a classic piece of British workwear!
