Original 1940s British Royal Navy Bell Bottom Trousers by 'Bernard'

SOLD

Code: 54516

An original pair of post-1932 Royal Navy Ratings Serge bell bottom trousers as worn throughout the Second World War and in the immediate post-war period.

This pattern of trousers features a flap front, a style which dates back to the 19th Century. They have a wide leg which was designed to be easy to roll up when cleaning the deck (a daily chore) and easy to remove if in water. The trousers feature a single pocket which has a cotton ticking pocket bag. The trousers also feature a cotton ticking lining to the waistband.

Inside the trousers the original maker's label is still present which bears the brand name of 'Bernard' and typical period graphics. Private purchase uniform like this is quite common to find from the period and was most likely worn as a best or 'walking out' uniform.

The trousers will suit a 28" waist and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 14"
Inside leg - 29"

The trousers are in used condition but are still very wearable and display well. There are some signs of age and wear but overall they display well. Please take time to study these before purchasing as they are a vintage, pre-owned item with small issues commensurate with age.

A nice pair of original WW2 period Royal Navy Bell Bottoms which could make a good addition to a collection or display.
