Original 1951 Dated British 1950 Pattern Bush Jacket - Size 10

SOLD

Code: 54481

An original 1950 Pattern British Khaki Drill Bush Jacket dated 1951 and in a large size 10.

This pattern of tunic came into service during the immediate post-war years and bears many similarities with its wartime predecessor. It is made from a cellular cotton, often referred to as ‘Aertex’, and is cut in a classic bush jacket style. The jacket features epaulettes, pleated chest pockets and a buttoning cuff. All the buttons are brown coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) examples which are correct for the period.

Inside the jacket still retains its original issue label which is bright and legible. The size of 10 is present as is the 1951 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. The maker's name of 'Carol' is also present.

The jacket is designed to fit a 41" - 43" chest and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22”
Inside Arm - 16 1/2“
Outside Arm - 23“
Waist - 20”
Length - 29 1/2”
Shoulders - 18”

The condition of the jacket is good for its age and displays well. There are no serious flaws or damage but there are signs of wear and age. The bottom pockets have been removed, most likely to allow it to be worn as a shirt tucked into trousers and one of the chest pocket buttons is broken although this could easily be replaced. Please study the pictures as they form part of the description.

Altogether a nice original British Bush Jacket in a rare large size.
