Original 1953 Dated British 1950 Pattern Khaki Drill Bush Jacket

SOLD

Code: 54460

An original 1950 Pattern British Khaki Drill Bush Jacket dated 1953 and in a large size 12.

This pattern of tunic came into service during the immediate post-war years and bears many similarities with its wartime predecessor. It is made from a cellular cotton, often referred to as ‘Aertex’, and is cut in a classic bush jacket style. The jacket features epaulettes, pleated chest pockets and a buttoning cuff. All the buttons are green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) examples which are correct for the period.

Inside the jacket still retains its original issue label which is faded leaving only some details legible. The size of 12 is present as is the 1953 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. There is also a War Department acceptance stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'M' which denotes 1954 as the year of issue.

The jacket is designed to fit a 42" - 44" chest and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22 1/2”
Inside Arm - 18“
Outside Arm - 24 1/2“
Waist - 20 1/2”
Length - 31”
Shoulders - 20”

The condition of the jacket is good for its age and displays well. There are no serious flaws or damage but there are signs of wear and age. The bottom pockets have been removed, most likely to allow it to be worn as a shirt tucked into trousers. Please study the pictures as they form part of the description.

Altogether a nice original British Bush Jacket in a rare large size.
