Original 1950s British Civil Defence Battledress Trousers - Size 34x31

SOLD

Code: 54369

An original pair of Civil Defence Battledress Trousers dating from the 1950s.

These trousers are the pattern introduced into service with the Civil Defence in 1941 and would have most likely carried the designation ARP 58 on their issue label. This pattern was manufactured during the Second World War and into the mid 1950s with this pair dating from around the early to mid 1950s due to the white cotton lining and grey shirting material found inside.

The trousers are made from a dark navy blue coloured serge wool and feature a map pocket to the front left leg and a First Field Dressing pocket to the right hip. Slash pockets are located to each hip and a single rear pocket is fitted to the reverse. Belt loops are fitted around the waist and the fly fastens with black plastic buttons. More of the same style of buttons are fitted around the inside edge of the waistband and can be used to support braces.

The trousers will fit someone of around a 34" waist depending on desired fit and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 17 1/2"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 19"
Inside leg - 31 1/2"
Outside leg - 43 1/2"
Cuff - 9"

The trousers are in used condition with some signs of wear and use. There are a couple of small areas of damage as detailed in the pictures but these are only noticeable on close inspection and has been reflected in the price. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a pre-worn pair of vintage trousers.

A nice pair of wartime pattern trousers which could suit a collector or re-enactor well.
