Rare 1944 Dated Royal Ordnance Factory Women's Bluette Work Trousers

SOLD

Code: 54292

A scarce original pair of 1944 dated Royal Ordnance Factory women's bluette work trousers in excellent unworn condition.

This pattern of trousers was issued to women who work in ordnance factories in Great Britain during the Second World War. They are made from a material called 'Bluette' which is an indigo dyed cotton drill, ideally suited for work purposes due to its hard-wearing nature. It was used for ARP clothing as well as workwear during WW2. The trousers are cut in a typical 1940s manner with a high rise waist and a wide leg. They feature a flap front which fastens with buttons as illustrated in the pictures.

The original label is still present at the rear of the trousers and is bright and legible. It bears the title 'R.O.F. Trousers, Bluette with tapes, Women's' and the size is stated as 37" waist. The maker's name of 'S. & P. Harris Ltd' is also present as is the 1944 date and the War Department broad arrow.

The trousers will suit a 36" waist and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 18"
Hips - 24"
Rise - 17 1/2"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 29 1/2"
Outside leg - 44"
Cuff - 10"

The trousers are in excellent condition and appear to be unworn. They are still a bold fresh colour and have clearly never been laundered. Overall they display extremely well and are totally wearable but please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that they are a pre-owned vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A very nice pair of wartime dated women's work trousers in great condition!
