Original WW2 British Army Drill Denim Battledress Blouse - Size 5

SOLD

Code: 54269

An original 'Overalls Blouse Drill No.4' in good condition which dates from the Second World War.

This pattern of battledress jacket was produced alongside the denim version throughout WW2. It differs from the denim version being made from drill and was only produced in this material during the war years to supplement the supply of the denim pattern. To the untrained eye it looks the same as the denim version but is a different shade of green and of course doesn't have a selvedge.

The jacket is fitted with butterscotch coloured revolving shank buttons which are all held in place with the correct brass split rings. The buckle is the pattern used from 1942 onwards and is an original period example.

Inside the original label is still although most of the details are illegible. The size of 5 can be seen and the original owner has marked his initials as 'J.W.D'. He has also marked his name as J. W. Dunnicliff' to the inside pocket.

The jacket will suit around a 38" chest and when laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 22"
Waist - 16"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 21"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 21 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition with some signs of wear and use. There are no signs of undue wear and overall it is very wearable. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage jacket which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A brilliant example of a piece of British military workwear with some interesting details and in nice condition. This would make a great addition to any collection without a doubt!
