An original 'Jacket, Overall, Green' clearly dated 1967 and in a size 1.
This pattern of fatigue jacket is rare to find today compared to the denim battledress jacket it was intended to replace. Made from a green coloured cotton drill, the jacket features a button front, epaulettes, angled flapped pocket to the skirt and a drawstring waist. Inside the tunic the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the manufacturer's name as 'J. Mandleberg & Co. Ltd' and the size as No. 1. The A/78 contract number is also present as is the 1967 date and the War Department broad arrow marking.
The tunic will suit someone of a 34" - 35" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -
Chest - 19 1/2"
Inside arm - 16"
Outside arm - 21 1/2"
Shoulders - 16 1/2"
Length - 26"
The jacket is in good condition overall and is still the deep green coloured it would have been when new. There is a mark to the rear of one sleeve as well as some general signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned, vintage item which may have small flaws commensurate with age.
A rare piece of British military workwear from the post-war period!
