Original 1952 Dated British Denim Battledress Trousers - Size 3

SOLD

Code: 54256

An original pair of 1952 dated British Denim Battledress Trousers in good condition and in a size No. 3.

This pattern of trousers came into issue with the British Army during the Second World War and remained standard issue well into the 1950s. These trousers were used for fatigues and are made from a green denim sanforized cotton, typical of that used for workwear in the mid century period. Based on the serge battledress design, these trousers feature a map pocket to the left leg, a first field dressing pocket to the right hip and slash pockets in the usual place in each side seam. They are cut with a high rise and wide leg as were all men's clothes during this period.

This particular pair still retains their original manufacturer's label to the interior. It states the size as No. 3 which is designed to fit someone a tall person with a 30" - 32" waist. The manufacturer's name is present as is the1952 date and War Department broad arrow marking.

It is important to remember that these are designed to fit over the wool battledress trousers so need to be worn oversize for an authentic fit. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 17"
Rise - 19"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 28 1/2"
Outside leg - 41 1/2"
Cuff - 9"

The trousers are in very good condition for their age and with only very limited signs of wear or use. They are very fresh on the whole and are very wearable. The only small flaw is a slight defect to the rear of the right leg which is visible in the last picture. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a pre-owned pair of vintage trousers so may have small issues commensurate with age.

A very nice original pair of denim trousers in excellent condition.
