Original Early 1950s British Collared Shirt by 'Victor'

SOLD

Code: 54238

A good original men's shirt made by 'Victor' in the early 1950s.

This shirt is typical of those made in the UK in the late 1940s and early 1950s. It is made from a grey-pink cotton and features a small cutaway collar which was a style which began to emerge in the late 1940s and became highly popular in the 1950s. The shirt also has long sleeves and a barrel cuff which fastens with the button giving it a nice casual feel.

Inside the neck of the shirt the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Victor Regd Shirts and Pyjamas' in red. The collar size of 15 1/2  has been added to the inside of the collar in ink.

The shirt will suit someone of around a 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 21"
Outside arm - 23"
Length at back - 34"
Shoulders - 18 3/4"
Collar - 15 1/2"

The shirt is in reasonable condition with some marks, staining and general signs of age and limited wear. There is a repair to one armpit and some wear around the collar. Overall it looks to be very wearable but please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-owned vintage shirt thay may have small issues commensurate with age.

A great original shirt in a striking typical period colour. Casual British clothing from this period is hard to find making it quite a rarity.
