Original 1960s British Peacoat by 'Gieves'

£185.00 Approx $230.39, €215.12

Code: 54061

A high quality British peacoat made by the famous maker 'Gieves' during the 1960s.

This coat is cut in the peacoat style which is now a timeless classic. This example was made for Gieves so is a typically British garment and was most likely bought by someone who was ex Royal Navy and still sailing as part of a sailing or yacht club.

The jacket is made from a heavy wool which is a deep navy blue colour. It features a double breasted front which fastens with plastic buttons which have an anchor to the front. Flapped pockets are located to the lower portion and the collar is a classic notched style. The rear of the coat features two short vents whilst the interior is fully lined and features two interior pockets. Inside one of these is the archetypal Gieves label which dates the jacket to the 1960s. It features Royal Appointments to both Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh.

The coat will suit a 40" chest and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length - 32"

The coat is in good condition for its age and is still very wearable. It shows plenty of signs of wear and use, particularly around the collar and the pocket flaps as well as the edge of the wrap. It displays well and looks good when worn none-the-less and was clearly a well loved jacket by the original owner. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that it is a vintage item with some small flaws commensurate with age.

A fantastic and very rare British peacock made by one of the country's most famous and prestigious maker. This would make an excellent addition to any wardrobe!
