Original 1939 Pattern Home Guard 1 TAY Greatcoat - Size 9

SOLD

Code: 53991

An original 1939 Pattern Home Guard Greatcoat which belonged to a private in the 1st Perthshire (North Pershire) Battalion who were based in Pitlochry.

The coat is the standard 1939 pattern which was only produced at the beginning of the Second World War. The coat is made from a heavy khaki green coloured serge wool and features brass King's crown general service buttons throughout. To the top of each sleeve are printed Home Guard shoulder titles below which are the area badges which read 'TAY 1' which denotes the 1st Perthshire Battalion.

Inside the coat the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It bears the title of 'GREAT COAT 1939 Patten' and states the size as 9 and the maker as 'S. Schneiders Ltd'. Size 9 is a very large size which is difficult to find today.

The coat displays well and is still very wearable. There are numerous signs of age and wear including some staining and some holes etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item with some issues commensurate with age.

A nice original Home Guard greatcoat which is still fitted with its original badges and in a very hard to find large size.
