Scarce 1943 Dated Indian Pattern British Army Wool Shirt

SOLD

Code: 53976

A scarce original 1943 dated  Indian made wool shirt as used by the British Army during the Second World War.

The shirt is made from a soft grey coloured wool flannel and features a half placket front, pleated chest pockets and Indian coconut husk buttons, all of which are still present. The collar features a large, spearpoint shape which is typical of the 1940s and epaulettes are located to each shoulder.

The original stamps are still present to the interior and the typical Indian circular date stamp is among these. It bears the date of December 1943 written as 12 43 either side of the War Department broad arrow.

The shirt is a small size which will suit a 36" chest. When laid flat measures -

Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 19"
Outside arm - 22"
Shoulders - 16 1/4"
Length - 28 1/2"
Collar - 15"

The shirt is in excellent condition and looks to be unworn. It displays very well indeed but please take time to study the photographs and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn shirt which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A rare wartime shirt which would be hard to upgrade.
