Original 1950s British Royal Navy White Work Jacket by 'Pexwear'

SOLD

Code: 53956

An original 1950s British Royal Navy white cotton Class I and Class III cotton tunic. This pattern was worn in hot climates by Chief Petty Officers, Petty Officers and various types of seamen who did not wear square rig.

This pattern of tunic was introduced before the Second World War and stayed in service for many years. It is made from a white coloured cotton drill material and features a single breasted front and stand collar which fastens with two metal hooks and eyes. The front of the jacket is fitted with butterscotch coloured revolving shank buttons and two plain patch pockets are located to the chest.

Inside the jacket the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Pexwear' as well as the Royal appointment to the late King George VI which dates the jacket to the early mid 1950s.

The tunic will fit a 40" chest and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22 1/2"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 24 1/2"
Shoulders - 19 1/2"
Length - 29 1/2"

The tunic is in good condition with limited signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice original piece of Mid-Century British workwear with a great label.
