Original 1941 Dated British Army Field Service Cap - Size 7 1/4

An original WW2 British Army Field Service Cap in good condition, dating from 1941.  

This pattern of cap came into issue with the British Army shortly before the beginning of the Second World War and saw use throughout the conflict. It was replaced by the General Service Cap in 1943 but remains an iconic piece of British Headwear today.

The maker marking and size are no longer present inside the cap although the War Department acceptance stamp is and is surmounted by the letter 'P' which denotes 1941 as the year of issue. There is no size marked but it is approximately a size 7 1/4 and measures 11 1/4" along the opening when laid flat.

The cap is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. There are some signs of wear and there is some soiling to the interior. 

Altogether a nice cap that would make a good addition to a collection or could suit a reenactor.
