Original Early WW2 British Second Pattern Denim Battledress Trousers

SOLD

Code: 53808

An original pair of second pattern British Army denim batledress trousers in well worn condition.

This pattern or trousers was introduced in late 1940 and was replaced by the austerity pattern in 1942. These early trousers feature belt loops to the waist, fly covered pocket flaps, a twin pleated First Field Dressing pocket and stamped brass buttons throughout. The bottom of each leg has been fitted with an extra piece of denim material which is folded into a turn-up. There is evidence of where the manufacturer's label was originally affixed but the trousers can easily be dated without it due to their short production period.

The trousers are designed to be worn over the wool battledress uniform and this needs to be taken into account when studying the sizes. For an authentic fit they need to be worn over-size. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 17"
Rise - 16"
Rear rise - 19"
Inside leg - 25 1/2" (28" with turn up folded down
Outside leg - 38"
Cuff - 9 1/2"

The trousers are in well worn condition as can be seen in the pictures. There is staining and some holes including a number in close proximity to the seat (picture 11). The trousers are still wearable but have been heavily worn so please bear this in mind and take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A great looking pair of vintage work trousers and a rare pattern of denims to find today.
