Original 1955 Dated British Army Denim Battledress Trousers - Size 8

£160.00 Approx $199.25, €186.05

Code: 53806

An original pair of 1955 dated British Denim Battledress Trousers in good condition and in a size No. 8.

This pattern of trousers came into issue with the British Army during the Second World War and remained standard issue well into the 1950s. These trousers were used for fatigues and are made from a green denim sanforized cotton, typical of that used for workwear in the mid century period. Based on the serge battledress design, these trousers feature a map pocket to the left leg, a first field dressing pocket to the right hip and slash pockets in the usual place in each side seam. They are cut with a high rise and wide leg as were all men's clothes during this period.

This particular pair still retains their original manufacturer's label to the interior. It states the size as No. 8 which is designed to fit someone with a 35-36". It is important to remember that these are designed to fit over the wool battledress trousers so need to be worn oversize for an authentic fit.

When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 19"
Rise - 17 1/2"
Rear rise - 19"
Inside leg - 25" (2" to let down)
Outside leg - 39"
Cuff - 9 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition for their age with only limited signs of wear and use. They still have a fresh feel and have not been washed or faded out. There is a repair to the rear as illustrated in picture 10. Overall, the trousers are in good condition although they are not perfect new old stock examples. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
