Original 1955 Dated Women's Military Raincoat by 'Swallow'

An original 1955 dated British military women's raincoat made by 'Swallow Raincoats Ltd'.

Officially designated 'Coats. Rainproof Womens', this pattern of coat was issued to women serving in the Women's Royal Army Corps. It is a classic design which could easily pass as being from an earlier decade. It features a double breasted front, slash pockets and a matching waist belt. There is a full cotton lining which features a classic checked pattern, as was popular with the raincoat Swallow made for the civilian market. There is also a hanging loop at the neck. The rear of the coat features a single vent which can be fastened with a hook and eye as illustrated in the last picture 

Inside the coat the original label is still present and is completely legible. It states the size as No. 10 which is designed to fit a 40" bust. The 1955 date is present as is the War Department broad arrow marking. 

The coat is a small to medium size and when laid flat it measures - 

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 16"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 45"

The coat is in worn condition with various signs of wear and use. It is still totally wearable and displays well enough but does have some marks and staining. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
