Original 1942 Dated British Army Ordinary Ranks Service Dress Trousers

SOLD

Code: 53723

An original pair of British Army Service Dress trousers dated 1942 and in excellent condition.

This rare pair of wartime trousers are unchanged from the pre-war design. They are made from the standard serge wool used for British Army uniforms during the First and Second World Wars and feature stamped brass buttons. The rear of the trousers features a 'fishtail' back whilst the leg is cut in a narrow fashion and are tell-tale signs of what many collectors refer to as '1922 pattern'.

To the rear of the trousers, the original paper label is still present. It beas the title 'Trousers Service Dress OR Pattern 38' below which is the size of 17 and the maker's name of 'L. Silberston & Sons'. The War Department broad arrow is present as is a faint issue stamp with a 1942 date. Inside the trousers is the War Department broad arrow stamp which is surmounted by the letter 'O' denoting 1942 as the year of manufacture.

The trousers are a small size and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 16 1/2"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 20 1/2"
Inside leg - 33 1/2"
Outside leg - 47"
Cuff - 10"

The trousers are in excellent condition for their age with no real signs of wear or use. There are some very small holes and a small amount of moth grazing which are illustrated in the pictures. Overall they are very fresh and look to be un-issued but please study the pictures for a better idea of condition.

Altogether a nice original pair of trousers which are hard to find, especially with a clear wartime date. Ideal for the early war collector!
