Original 1970s British Stores Coat by 'Bavern' - Size 40

SOLD

Code: 53574

An original British 'stores' coat made by 'Bavern' in the 1970s.

This style of coat was very popular from the pre war period through to the 1970s and were a common sight in England. These work coats were worn by shopkeepers, store keepers and many other people. They were designed to keep the wearer's clothes clean without having to wear a full set of overalls.

Made from a khaki coloured sanforized cotton drill, the coat features a single breasted front which fastens with press studs which are all marked 'Griper'. The cut of the coat is unchanged from earlier examples and it features a notched lapel and three patch pockets to the front, through pockets are located to each hip and the rear features a single vent.

Inside the coat the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Bavern and Cambridge'  alongside a graphic of the Union Jack. The size is stated as 40 on a separate label  and there is a third label which has details pertaining to washing etc.

The coat is in worn condition with various signs of wear and use. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item which has small issues commensurate with age.

A classic British work coat with a nice label.
