An original pair of early 1950s Women's Royal Army Corps Slacks in good condition.
This pattern of trousers was introduced in the early post-war period and is very similar to the pattern worn during the Second World War. They are made from the same khaki green coloured barathea wool and feature a side button fastening which closes with green coloured vegetable ivory (plastic) buttons. Waist tabs are located around the top which are joined by a piece of elastic and allow for some adjustment at the waist. There is a single slash pocket located to the right hip.
Inside the trousers there is a faint War Department acceptance stamp which my have the letter code of M.
The trousers will suit around a 26" waist and are slightly adjustable. When laid flat they measure -
Waist - 13"
Hips - 19 1/2"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Inside leg - 27 1/2"
Outside leg - 40"
Cuff - 8 3/4"
The trousers are in very good condition with no real signs of wear or use. They look like they may be unissued and display very well. There is a small hole to the left knee as shown in picture 5. They are still very wearable but are a vintage, pre-worn item so may have small issues commensurate with age.
A nice original pair of slacks from the immediate post-war period.
