Original 1940 Pattern Battledress Trousers - Size 14 32x33

SOLD

Code: 53509

An original pair of 1940 pattern British Army Battledress trousers which were produced in around 1941.

This pattern of trousers was introduced in the middle of 1940 following the withdrawal from Dunkirk. They feature a twin pleated first field dressing pocket to the right hip which is the main feature which differentiates them from the earlier pattern. The trousers are made from the standard khaki green coloured serge wool and feature belt loops at the waist. Stamped brass buttons are fitted throughout as is standard for this pattern and a revolving shank button is fitted to the FFD pocket.

At the rear of the trousers the original label is still present and is reasonably legible. It states the size as No. 14 which is one of the larger sizes produced. They will fit around a 32" waist and have a 33" inside leg. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 16  1/2"
Inside leg - 33"

Inside the trousers there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is not surmounted by a letter as is often the case with early manufactured battledress.

The trousers are in good condition and on the whole are a very clean pair. There are no serious signs of wear or use although they have been worn and issued. The only flaw I can find is a very small hole to the front which is only noticeable under close scrutiny.

A good pair of original 1940 pattern battledress trousers in a larger size and excellent condition.
