Original 1950s French Bleu de Travail Workwear Trousers - 32x28

SOLD

Code: 53474

An original pair of French workwear trousers dating from the 1950s.

This type of trousers is synonymous with artisans, workers and labourers of the mid-century period in France. Often referred to as 'Bleu de Travail' which roughly translates as 'work blues', this colour of workwear is synonymous with France.

The trousers are made from a blue coloured sanforized cotton and feature black plastic buttons and a metal hook and eye to fasten to the fly. Mismatched buttons are fitted around the waist to which braces can be attached and there is a patch pocket to the rear. The trousers are cut in a typical style for the 1950s with a twin pleated front, angled slash pockets and a separate waistband with belt loops. There is also a small ticket pocket to the front located just below the waistband.

The Trousers will fit around a 32" waist depending on desired fit. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 16"
Rise - 13 1/2"
Rear rise - 16"
Inside leg - 28"
Outside leg - 40"
Cuff - 9 1/2"

The trousers are in reasonable condition overall with various repairs and stains. There is a hole to the front right knee along with other issues which are all detailed in the pictures. They may have other small issues commensurate with age but overall are wearable.  Please study the picture before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a pair of pre-worn workwear trousers.

A nice pair of trousers with plenty of classic details and some typical period repairs.
