Original 1940s CC41 Men's Three Button Navy Blue Jacket by 'Burton'

SOLD

Code: 53455

An original CC41 navy blue three button Jacket made by Montague Burton in the 1940s.

This jacket was made as part of the CC41 utility scheme which was brought into effect in the UK in 1941 as part of the larger rationing scheme. The idea behind it was that affordable, quality clothing would be available to everyone of every class and could be bought using coupons.

This style of jacket was extremely popular in the 1930s and 1940s. It could well have originally been part of a suit but would also likely have been worn with grey flannel trousers or slacks - a very popular casual look during this period. The jacket is cut in a typically 1940s style being short in the body and featuring no rear vent. The single breasted front and notch label are also classic of British jackets from this period.

Inside the jacket is fully lined and features the Montague Burton 'The Tailor of Taste' label as well as the CC41 label which bears the code X209A.

The jacket will suit around a 37" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 20 1/2"
Inside arm - 18 1/4"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Length - 28"
Shoulders - 17 1/4"

The jacket is in good condition for its age and it is still very wearable. There are some light marks to the front which can be seen in the pictures and some general signs of wear and age. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn vintage item of around 80 years old which has some flaws and is far from perfect condition.

A nice original wartime period jacket which would look great paired with grey flannels or similar.
