Original 1940s British Khaki Drill Shorts

SOLD

Code: 53356

An original pair of 1940s theatre made cotton drill shorts in good condition.

These shorts are typical of those issue during the Second World War being made of a khaki coloured cotton drill and featuring a button fly as well as straight slash pockets to each hip which help date them to being 1940s as later pairs usually have angled pockets. They are typical of those bought by Officers stationed in the tropics during the Second World War and in the post-war period. The stitching and the buttons on the belt loops would indicate that these are theatre made rather than British made.

The most interesting detail found on these shorts is the offset double buckle fastening at the waist. A great detail and a rare feature.

The shorts will fit someone of around a 31" depending on desired fit and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 15 1/2"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 20 1/2"
Inside leg - 9"
Outside leg - 23"
Cuff - 15"

The shorts are in good condition and are still very wearable. There are no signs of serious damage or excessive wear and overall they display well. There are some marks to the seat although these are not overly noticeable. Please study the pictures to get the best idea of the condition and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice pair of wartime period shorts with great period details and in wearable condition. These would make a great addition to any collection or could suit a re-enactor.
