Original 1943 Dated British Army Ordinary Ranks Service Dress Tunic 11

£165.00 Approx $205.22, €192.76

Code: 53247

An original 1943 Dated British Army Service Dress Tunic, often referred to as '1922 Pattern' by collectors.

This tunic is the wartime austerity pattern which features plain patch pockets on the chest rather than the pre and post war patterns which have pleats. As well as this it does not feature buttons to the lower pockets. Aside from those details the tunic is more-or-less unchanged from the earlier pattern. The tunic features a full set of wartime economy green plastic Kings crown buttons and brass belt hangers in the waist. The lining is the standard khaki coloured cotton drill used in these tunics during WW2.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and is bright and legible. It states the size as No.11 which will fit a 38" - 39" chest and a 33" - 34" waist. The War Department broad arrow marking is present to the lower portion of the label and a purple issue stamp is also present as is the maker's name of 'J. Compton, Sons & Webb Ltd, London' As well as this the War Department acceptance stamp is present and surmounted by the letter 'N' which confirms 1943 as the year of issue.

The overall condition of the jacket is very good with next to no signs of wear or use. It displays very well and has a fresh, unworn appearance on the whole save for a small hole to the right sleeve as shown in picture 5. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

All in all a very nice war dated example of the economy pattern tunic with a good label and stamps.
