Original 1939 Dated British Policeman's MKII Steel Helmet

SOLD

Code: 53183

A fine example of a Second World War Policeman's Steel helmet made by 'RO. Co' in 1939.

This pattern of helmet was issued to policemen and special constables throughout the Second World War. This example is a standard British MKII steel helmet shell with the early style chin strap lugs. It is painted in the correct deep blue coloured used for police helmets and bears the word 'POLICE' to the front. The maker's name and 1939 date are stamped to the underside of the helmet as shown in picture 10.

The helmet is fitted with an early pattern liner which is a size 7 and was made by 'J. C. S. & W. Ltd'. It features the round cushion pad only used on early production helmets as well as the correct large type brass screw, again only used on early examples. The original chin strap is also present and appears to be original to the helmet.

The overall condition of the helmet is very good and it displays very well indeed. It shows signs of wear and use which is to be expected. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

A very nice example of an early war police helmet which would compliment any collection without a shadow of a doubt!
