An original British Army navy blue coloured field service cap as worn by various regiments during the inter-war period as well as the Second World War.
This cap is made from a navy blue wool and features red piping to the top edge and two brass general service buttons to the front. The cap is fitted with a bi-metal Royal Sussex Regiment cap badge. There is evidence of where a different cap badge has been fitted previously although this is hidden by the cap badge currently fitted. The interior of the cap is lined in cotton drill and features a mushroom coloured cotton tape sweatband.
When laid flat the opening of the cap measures 10 1/2".
The cap is in good condition for its age and it displays well with some signs of wear and age.
All in all a nice period cap which would make a good addition to any collection.
