Original 1950s British Engineer Jacket by 'Ironguard' - Size S

SOLD

Code: 53156

A nice original British engineer work jacket dating from the 1950s and in a classic navy blue colour.

This style of jacket was very popular in the UK throughout the first half of the 20th Century. The simple three button design is typical of the period and the three patch pockets are utilitarian yet functional ,making them ideal for men working in factories, workshops, garages and many other places.

The jacket is made from a cotton drill material and features no rear vent. The front of the jacket fastens with brown coloured revolving shank buttons which are held in place with brass split rings which makes them easy to remove for washing purposes. The jacket features a notched lapel which is short and pronounced in shape and gives the jacket an early look which could easily pass for 1930s or 1940s.

Inside the jacket two original labels are still present. The one to the neck is the classic 'sanforized' label whilst the maker's label is found further down inside the jacket. It features a graphic of the Union Jack as the background and bears the maker's name of 'Ironguard of London' to the middle as well as the words 'British made'.

The jacket is a small size which will suit around a 36" chest and when laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 20"
Inside arm - 18"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 17 1/2"
Length - 26 1/2"

The jacket is in good condition as can be seen in the photographs. It shows signs of age and wear as well as washing etc. There is some staining but overall the jacket is still very wearable. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice piece of British workwear in a classic colour and complete with all of its original labels.
