Original 1930s Men's White Cotton Summer Work Jacket - Size S

SOLD

Code: 53154

A nice original men's single breasted cotton jacket made in the 1930s.

This jacket is both a casual summer jacket and a typical work jacket at the same time. It was no doubt intended as a jacket which could be worn for light work as well as in town. The cut is typical of work jackets from the inter-war period featuring a single breasted front, notched lapel and patch pockets. The revolving shank buttons (sometimes called 'bachelor' buttons) which were removable for washing purposes and are also typical of work jackets from this period.

Inside the jacket there is a hanging loop to the neck below which is a name tag which bears the name 'A. L. Sharpe' which would suggest that the jacket was made in Great Britain. The construction is fairly typical of 1930s British items so this is most likely in my opinion.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit around a 36" - 37" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20 1/4"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 23 1/2"
Shoulders - 17 1/4"
Length - 26 1/2"

The jacket is in worn condition but is still very wearable and has plenty of life left in it. There is staining and some repairs as well as a small hole to one of the sleeves. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-owned item with some small issues.

A classic British jacket which would make a great addition to your summer wardrobe!
