Original 1930s French Belt Back Blue Chore Jacket - Size 36

SOLD

Code: 53122

A fantastic original French chore jacket made in blue sanforised cotton and featuring a belted back.

Blue work jackets are synonymous with French artisans, workers and labourers of the mid-century period and is arguably the most iconic jacket ever produced in France. This example is a rare pre World War Two made jacket and is particularly special as it features a belt back. It is made from a bue coloured cotton and features a single breasted front which fastens with three buttons. Three patch pockets are located to the front of the jacket and there is also a single interior pocket. The original label is found here and reads 'Le Fermier' which translate as 'The Farmer' in English.

The jacket is a smaller size which will suit a 36" chest well. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 20"
Inside arm - 17"
Outside arm - 22 1/2"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length - 29"

The jacket is in well worn condition as can clearly be seen in the pictures. There is various staining and a very small loss of stitching under the right arm although this is not a hole as the second line of stitching is still intact. Whilst far from perfect the jacket is still very wearable and has its own unique character. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A really great early French jacket with some fantastic detials.
