Original 1950s Royal Navy Action Working Dress Trousers

SOLD

Code: 53120

An original pair of Royal Navy Action Working Dress trousers featuring the cross belt waist closure.

This pattern of trousers was used for a number of years by the Royal Navy but is rare to find today. The Action Working Dress uniform was introduced at the tail end of WW2 as a working dress. This pattern of trousers was worn with a shirt made from a light blue cotton and was clearly based on the US Navy chambray shirt and dungarees. This dress became the standard working dress in the post-war period and was often referred to as No.8 Dress.

The trousers are made from an indigo blue coloured cotton drill and feature a cross belt waist fastening. Buttons fasten the fly and large belt loops are fitted around the waist. A single rear pocket is found to the seat and slash pockets are located to the hips. The original owner has marked his name to the interior which reads 'A. Silvester'.

The trousers are a smaller size which will suit around a 28" waist. They are slightly adjustable due to the style of waist fastening and when laid flat measure

Waist - 14 1/4"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 18"
Inside leg - 28"
Outside leg - 41"
Cuff - 9 1/2"

The trousers are in worn condition with some excellent fades. There is wear to the end of each belt where they pass through the metal buckles, a repair to the seat, a hole to the left leg and various staining. Whilst they are far from perfect the trousers are still very wearable and have a great look to them. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A rare pair of vintage British military work trousers with great details!
