Original 1980s British Engineer Jacket by 'Yamco' - Deadstock

SOLD

Code: 53083

An original British work jacket made by 'Yamco' in the 1980s.

This style of jacket was a popular work jacket for men in the UK from the 1930s through to the 1980s and is often referred to today as an 'engineer' jacket. It is made from a deep indigo blue coloured cotton drill and features a three button front and notched lapel. The front fastens with black coloured revolving shank buttons which can be removed for washing purposes. This style of button, sometimes called 'bachelor' buttons, were very common on British work clothing for many years. Three patch pockets are located to the front of the jacket and there are no rear vents. All the details of the jacket are true to much earlier examples.

Inside the jacket the original labels are still present and include the original cardboard swing ticket. The maker's name of 'Yarmco' is present throughout and features a very 1970s style graphic. There is a white label with the sanforized shrunk logo and the swing ticket bears the size of 42. There is another small size ticket stitched into the top patch pocket which also bears the size of 42.

The jacket is designed to fit a 42" chest. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 23"
Inside arm - 17 3/4"
Outside arm - 26 1/4"
Shoulders - 19"
Length - 31 1/2"

The jacket is in excellent, unworn condition as can be seen in the pictures. It is clearly a deadstock item as all the labels are still present and there are no signs of wear or use.

A classic piece of British workwear in amazing condition and a great size!
