Original 1952 Dated British 1950 Pattern Khaki Drill Bush Jacket

SOLD

Code: 53080

An original 'Jackets Bush Khaki, 1950 Pattern' dated 1952 and in excellent, new old stock unworn condition.

Often referred to as the 'Khaki Drill Bush Jacket' this pattern of jacket has to be one of the most classic military jackets of the 20th Century. Cut in a typical 'Safari' style, the jacket features two buttoning chest pockets with scalloped flaps, two lower flapped pockets, long sleeves and an integral waist belt with brass buckle which is removable. The jacket is made from cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'Aertex' which was a popular choice during this period due to its lightweight, breathable nature.

Inside the tunic the original label is still present and is as bright as the day the tunic was made. It states the size as No. 6 which fits up to 5' 8" tall, a 38-40" chest and a 33-35" waist. It also bears the manufacturer's name, 'Bickley', the 1952 date and the War Department broad arrow marking. As well as this there is a War Department acceptance stamp which is adjacent to the label.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 21 1/2"
Waist - 18"
Inside arm - 15 1/2"
Outside arm - 22"
Shoulders - 18 1/2"
Length - 28 1/2"

The condition of the jacket is superb. It is clearly a deadstock, unissued example and still has a sheen to it! The only flaw is a stain to the back of the left sleeve as shown in the pictures. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

Overall this is a great example which would be hard to better. A must have for the serious collector!
