Original 1940s Men's Black with White Chalk Stripe Wool Trousers

SOLD

Code: 53079

An original pair of men's wool trousers made by 'Gunn, Collie & Topping' of Glasgow in the 1940s.

These trousers were quite possibly originally part of a suit. They are cut in a typical fashion for the period featuring a high rise waist and wide leg. They are cut from a black coloured wool which features a white chalk stripe which was popular during this period. The fly fastens with buttons and more buttons are located around the top of the waistband to which braces can be attached. All the buttons are marked with the maker's name. The rear of the trousers features a single pocket as is common with British made trousers during this era. A V-shaped piece of material has been added to the rear seam to allow for a larger waist size.

The trousers will suit around a 37" waist and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 18 1/2"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 20"
Inside leg - 31"
Outside leg - 45"
Cuff - 8 1/2"

The trousers are in worn condition with various signs of wear and age. There are also some holes to the crotch and legs which I have detailed in the pictures. They are far from perfect which is reflected in the price. Please study the pictures before purchasing.

Whilst not perfect, these are still a wearable pair of mid Century trousers in a classic cut.
