Original 1950s British Army Officers Jungle Green Aertex Shirt

SOLD

Code: 53075

An original British Army Officers Jungle Green Aertex shirt in good condition and dating from the 1950s.

This shirt is typical of those worn in the Far East during the 1940s and 1950s. It is made from a green dyed cellular cotton which is often referred to as 'Aertex' and features grey - green coloured buttons. To the chest are pleated pockets which feature scalloped pocket flaps whilst the epaulettes feature hand stitched holes. The lower holes would have originally had a regimental title fitted whilst the upper three sets would have been for rank of Captain.

The shirt will fit around a 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 20 1/2"
Outside arm - 24"
Length at front - 30 1/2"
Length at back - 34"
Shoulders - 116 1/2"
Collar - 14 1/2"

The shirt is in reasonable condition with signs of use and age. It is still very wearable but does have a small area of wear inside the collar, a period repair to the rear and a couple of small holes above the left breast pocket where badges have been fitted previously. Overall the shirt is wearable but please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn item.

A nice original 1950s aertex shirt.
