Original 1942 Pattern British Khaki Drill Shorts

SOLD

Code: 53072

An original pair of 1942 Pattern British khaki drill shorts dating from the mid-war period and in good condition.

This pattern of shorts was introduced to replace the 1941 pattern. They are identical to the earlier pattern but do not feature belt loops which were deleted from the pattern for economy measures. The shorts feature brown plastic buttons throughout which dates them to approximately 1943.

Unlike many KD shorts, this pair are clearly of British manufacture. They are made from a khaki coloured cotton drill material and feature a First Field Dressing pocket to the right hip. It features a double pleat and fastens with a single button. The waist fastens with the double strap and buckle fastenings used on khaki drill and jungle green shorts and trousers throughout the war. Slash pockets are located to each hip and there are no pockets to the rear.

The original label is no longer present but there is a clear outline of stitching showing where it was originally affixed to the outside of the seat.

The shorts will suit someone of around a 32" waist and when laid flat the measure -

Waist - 16 1/4"
Rise - 15 1/2"
Rear rise - 17 1/2"
Inside leg - 9 1/2"
Outside leg - 23"
Cuff - 13"

The shorts are in good condition for their age with no serious flaws or damage. They have clearly been worn and show signs of use along with some staining. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A nice original pair of wartime, British made shorts.
