Original 1940s British Military Khaki Drill Shorts

£110.00 Approx $138.71, €128.35

Code: 53066

An original pair of British military Khaki Drill Shorts dating from the 1940s and in a larger size 34" waist.

This pattern of shorts and trousers was introduced into service with the British military in 1944 and saw issue during the latter part of the Second World War. This pattern stayed in service well into the 1960s with the most prolific pattern being the 1950 pattern. This style of shorts with the cross belt waist fastening is now often referred to as 'Gurkha shorts'.

The shorts are made from a khaki coloured cotton drill material and the pocket badges and fly lining are made from cellular cotton - a typical trait of wartime period KD shorts and trousers. The fly fastens with brown coloured horn buttons and the waist belts fasten with non standard chrome plated grip buckles. The shorts feature a twin pleated front, slash pockets at the hips and no rear pockets.

The shorts will suit someone of around a 34" waist and when laid flat they measure -

Waist - 17 1/4"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 19 1/2"
Inside leg - 7 1/4"
Outside leg - 21"
Cuff - 16"

The shorts are in good condition for their age but do show signs of wear and use. They are still very wearable but there is plenty of staining etc. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that they are a vintage, pre-worn item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A good original pair of WW2 period KD shorts in a larger size.
