Original 1960s British Herringbone Wool Overcoat by 'Rodex'

SOLD

Code: 53061

An original British Herringbone wool overcoat, made by 'Rodex' in the 1960s.

This style of overcoat was immensely popular with men in post-war Britain. This example is made from a classic Prince of Wales check herringbone wool in grey, white and black and features a single breasted front, raglan sleeve, notched collar and slash pockets to the front. The pockets are lined with chamois and the cuffs feature a turn-back detail.

Inside the coat is partially lined and features a number of interior pockets. Inside one of these is a size label which reads '38 Regular'. The maker's label is present to the neck and bears the name of 'Rodex' and the fabric is stated as being Scotch Saxony. The original hanging loop is present above this.

The coat is designed to fit a 38" chest but could potentially fit larger, depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 24 1/2"
Inside arm - 16 1/2"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders - 21"
Length - 42 1/2"

The coat is in good condition as can be seen in the pictures. It is still very wearable but does have some signs of wear and age. One of the front buttons is a period replacement and there is a small hole to the right upper sleeve. There is also a small repair to the skirt as pictured. Please take time to study the photographs and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have other small issues commensurate with age.

A classic 1950s to 1960s style of overcoat, made from a great cloth!
