Original 1930s Men's Double Breasted Overcoat by 'H. J. Cook'

SOLD

Code: 53037

An original men's double breasted overcoat made by 'H. J. Cook' of Chesterfield during the 1930s.

This style of coat was very popular in the UK during the 1920s and 1930s and was a common sight throughout the winter months up and down the county. It is made from a heavy, charcoal colours wool and features a double breasted front which fastens with contrasting brown coloured buttons.  The coat features peaked lapels with opposing button holes, a single pocket to the breast and two flapped pockets to the lower portion of the coat. The interior is fully lined and a hanging loop is located below the neck. Below this is the maker's label which is typical of the 1930s in design. There is another label which is found inside the interior pocket which again bears the manufacturer's name.

The coat will suit around a 38" - 40" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat it measures -

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 27 3/4"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 44 1/2"

The condition of the coat is very good, especially when considering it is well over 80 years old. There are some signs of wear and use, the most evident of which can be seen around the collar and roll of the lapels. Overall it displays very well and is still totally wearable with no serious flaws or damage. Please take time to study the pictures and bear in mind that this is a vintage, pre-worn coat which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A classic 1930s coat with all the right details!
