Original 1940s Herringbone Stripe Men's Wool Overcoat - Distressed

SOLD

Code: 52863

An original 1940s British made men's overcoat in a fantastic herringbone stripe but in heavily worn condition.

This coat is typical of those made in the U.K. in the 1940s. It features a double breasted front, notched lapel and would have originally had a matching waist belt. Flapped pockets are located to the hips and the rear features a long vent. The interior is partially lined with rayon and features an inside pocket. Below this pocket is a label which features typical 1940s graphics and reads 'All pure wool'.

These coats are cut in an oversize manner and are designed to be worn as an outer layer over a suit. This needs to be taken into account when considering the measurements below. I would recommend a fit of a 36" - 38" chest and when laid flat the coat measures -

Chest - 22"
Inside arm - 17 1/2"
Outside arm - 26"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 46 1/2"

The coat is in heavily worn condition and was clearly used for many years. The cuffs are worn and frayed with only one button remaining, there is a small hole to the front of the skirt, the button holes are worn, the lining is very worn and the collar has come away from the body of the coat in this area too. Please study the pictures before purchasing as this is a very worn coat, a fact which has been reflected in the price.

An original 1940s coat in a fantastic herringbone check. Sadly very worn but full of character!
