Original 1950s Boy Scouts Uniform

SOLD

Code: 52796

An original Boy Scouts uniform dating from the 1950s and in good condition.

The Boy Scouts were formed in the UK in 1908 and were a prolific youth organisation for many years. This uniform dates from the 1950s but is mostly identical to those made in the 1940s.

The set consists of a khaki coloured cotton drill shirt which features pleated patch pockets to the front. Various badges are fitted including a district title to the top left sleeve which reads '19th Norwich St. Thomas' below which are two more badges. Inside the collar of the shirt the original label is still present and features the title of 'The Scout Shop'.

Also included with the set are a pair of original shorts which feature the same label as the shirt. They are made from wool and feature a twin pleated front and angled slash pockets which are typical of the period. Belt loops are fitted around the waist and the fly fastens with buttons.

Finally is the beret which is made of green wool and features a leather headband. The internal markings have worn away but the original cap badge is still present to the interior.

The uniform is a small size which will suit around a 32" chest and a 25" waist. When laid flat it measures -

Shirt
Chest - 19 1/2"
Length at front - 25 1/2"
Length at back - 28"
Shoulders - 14 3/4"

Shorts
Waist - 12 3/4"

The uniform is in good condition overall with various signs of age and wear. It displays well but please study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice original mid Century uniform!
