Original 1950s British Army Theatre Made Jungle Green Trousers - 28

SOLD

Code: 52780

An original pair of theatre made British Army Jungle Green Trousers in good condition and dating from the early 1950s.

These original trousers are clearly theatre made, most likely in India, and are typical of those worn during the Second World War and into the 1950s. They are most likely private purchase examples as they are devoid of any stamps or markings - although this is not uncommon with theatre made uniforms.

The trousers are made from a cotton drill material which has been dyed the standard Jungle Green shade used during the 1940s and 1950s. They feature a high rise waist, button fly and a twin pleated front. Slash pockets are located to the hips and the leg is cut in a wide style as was popular during this period. The fly features a reinforcing stitch which is a nice detail rarely encountered.

The trousers will fit someone of around a 28" waist and when laid flat measure -

Waist - 14 1/4"
Rise - 14"
Rear rise - 17"
Inside leg - 31"
Outside leg - 43"
Cuff - 10"

The trousers are in good condition with some signs of wear and use. They have been lightly starched at some stage for smartness and there is some limited staining and other small issues commensurate with age. Overall they are clean, wearable and display very well. Please study the pictures and bear in mind that these are a vintage, pre-worn pair of trousers.

A good pair of original JG trousers in a classic mid-Century cut.
