Original WW2 Auxiliary Territorial Service Khaki Drill Shirt

SOLD

Code: 52778

A rare example of a first pattern Auxiliary Territorial Service Cellular Cotton Khaki Drill Blouse as worn during the Second World War.

Cellular cotton, or 'Aertex', was a popular choice of material for British tropical uniforms during the Second World War due to its lightweight, breathable nature. The shirt features a full button front and pleated patch pockets to the chest. Epaulettes are located to the shoulders and the cuffs fasten with a single button. All the buttons are brown plastic which denote this as a British made example.

When laid flat the blouse measures -

Chest - 22 1/2"
Inside arm - 20 1/4"
Outside arm - 23 3/4"
Shoulders - 16 1/4"
Length - 25 1/2"

The shirt is in good overall condition with no serious issues. It shows very little sign of wear but does have a repair to the tail as can be seen in the pictures. There is also a small defect to the material below the right breast pocket (picture 7) although this is only noticeable on close inspection. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a pre-worn, vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A rare example of this pattern of shirt and a must have for the serious womens uniform collector!
