Original WW2 RAF Officer's Khaki Drill Bush Jacket

SOLD

Code: 52711

An original Royal Air Force Officer's Khaki Drill Bush Jacket as worn during the Second World War.

The bush jacket was a popular alternative to the more formal RAF Khaki Drill tunic and cellular cotton examples like this in particular. This was due to their lightweight, breathable nature which made them the ideal tunic in warm climates. Cellular cotton is often referred to as 'Airtex'.

The jacket features a full button front, large collar and long sleeves. It is fitted with brass Kings crown RAF buttons to the front and pocket whilst green coloured buttons fasten the cuffs. Pleated patch pockets are located to the chest and feature RAF style scalloped pockets whilst bellows pockets can be found to the skirt and identify this jacket as an officer's pattern example.

There are no labels or markings inside the tunic but the material, design and buttons are all correct for WW2 and it was undoubtedly manufactured during this period.

The shirt will suit around a 36" chest depending on desired fit and when laid flat measures -

Chest - 20 1/4"
Inside arm - 22 1/2"
Outside arm - 26 1/2"
Length - 32"
Shoulders - 18 1/4"

The overall condition of the tunic is good with only limited signs of wear or age. There is a stain to the body as shown in picture 4 and another to the sleeve which is shown in picture five. It is possible the latter will wash out. This is a vintage item so please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice example of this pattern of RAF Officer's KD tunic.
