Incredible 1950s Teal Coloured Engineer Work Jacket - Size 40

SOLD

Code: 52687

A stunning original British engineer work jacket dating from the 1950s and in a striking teal colour.

This style of jacket was very popular in the UK throughout the first half of the 20th Century. The simple three button design is typical of the period and the three patch pockets are utilitarian yet functional making them ideal for men working in factories, workshops, garages and many other places. The pronounced shape of the notched lapel is also typical of jackets from the 1940s and early 1950s  and gives the jacket a distinctive, mid Century look.

The jacket is made from a fantastic teal coloured cotton drill which still has a shiny sheen to it as it would have done when new. The front of the jacket fastens with black coloured revolving shank buttons which are held in place with their original split rings and washers as detailed in picture 7.

The original card label is still present to the neck. These were removed before wear which would suggest that this is an unworn, old stock jacket. The label bears the manufacturer's name of 'G. H. Heath & Son (1952) Ltd' of Burslem, Stoke on Trent, the size of 40 and a graphic of a man wearing a similar engineer jacket. In front of this is a cotton label which bears many of the same details and in front of this again is a size tag which again states the size as 40.

When laid flat the jacket measures -

Chest - 21"
Inside arm - 18 1/2"
Outside arm - 25 1/2"
Shoulders - 17"
Length - 29 1/2"

The jacket is in fantastic, unworn condition as can be seen in the photographs. It has clearly never been worn, washed or used in any way but does have a few small marks from storage. Please study the pictures before purchasing and bear in mind that this is a vintage item which may have small issues commensurate with age.

A truly fantastic piece of British workwear in a stunning colour and complete with all of its original tags and in unworn condition. A must have for the serious collector or wearer!
