An original pair of 1963 dated British Army 1960 Pattern Combat Trousers in good condition and a size 8.
These trousers came into use with the British Army in the 1960s and were based on the 1952 Pattern uniform issued to British troops serving in Korea. These trousers would have been issued as part of a set which included a matching combat jacket.
The trousers are made from a plain olive green coloured cotton satten and feature a First Field Dressing pocket to the right hip and a map pocket to the left thigh. The trousers also have reinforced knees, slash pockets to the hips and belt loops. A metal zipper closes the fly and is marked 'FLASH'. It is double ended allowing the zip to be opened from both the top and bottom ends.
Inside the trousers both original labels are still present. One label is an instruction label whilst the other is the issue label. The label states the year of manufacture as 1963 and the size as Size 8 - Long Medium. The makers name 'Windsmoor (Macc) Ltd' is present as is the War Department broad arrow marking.
When laid flat the trousers measure -
Waist - 19 1/2"
Rise - 16 "
Rear rise - 19 1/2"
Inside leg - 32 1/2"
Outside leg - 47 1/2"
Cuff - 8 1/2"
The condition of the trousers is very good with only very limited signs of wear and use. They still have a very fresh look to them and almost look unissued aside from a few small marks etc. They display very well and are still very wearable but are a vintage, pre-owned item which may have small issues commensurate with age. Please study the pictures before purchasing.
All in all a very clean pair of combat trousers in a good size and with a nice clear label.
