Original 1958 Dated Belgium M/56 Jigsaw Pattern Camouflage Trousers

SOLD

Code: 52650

An original pair of 1958 dated Belgium M/56 Pattern Jigsaw Pattern Camouflage trousers in good condition.

This pattern of camouflage was introduced in 1956 and was intended for issue with elite units of the Belgian armed forces. It is now the longest running camouflage pattern to have been used by Belgium and is still in use today in a very similar form. This pair of trousers are of course an early example which date from 1958. The camouflage pattern features a khaki field with large green and brown areas, smaller black areas and white borders.

The trousers are made from a cotton canvas which is both hard wearing and durable. They feature a button fly, a drawstring waist, map pocket to the left leg and buttons around the top of the waist to which braces can be attached. The bottom of each trouser leg is cuffed and features ties whilst both the seat and knees feature reinforcing patches.

Inside the trousers the original label is still present and bears the maker's name of 'Bergetex' and the 1958 date.

The trousers are cut in a loose, baggy manner as they were designed to be worn as over-trousers. When laid flat they measure -

Waist - 21"
Rise - 15"
Rear rise - 21"
Inside leg - 30"
Outside leg - 43 1/2"
Cuff - 6 1/2"

The trousers are in good condition with plenty of signs of wear and use. There are some period repairs, but overall they are a sound, wearable pair of trousers. Please take time to study the pictures before purchasing.

A nice pair of 1950s trousers in this classic camouflage!
