Original 1950s European Green Leather Jacket

SOLD

Code: 52608

An original European made men's leather jacket dating from the late 1940s or early 1950s and in a fantastic bottle green colour.

This jacket was most likely made in Holland or Germany after the Second World War and was a very popular style at the time. The jacket is made from a striking, bottle green coloured leather which is thick and heavy. It features wide shoulders and a fancy back which are typical features found on jackets of this ilk and this period. Vertical zip chest pockets close with 'Zipp' branded zippers whilst slash pockets are located to the skirt. The front of the jacket fastens with an unbranded brass zipper and a waist belt fastens with a large, leather covered metal button which has the word 'Astor' to the reverse. The interior of the jacket is fully lined in rayon and features pockets.

The jacket is cut with broad, padded shoulders as was fashionable at the time. It is a bulky, heavy jacket which will suit someone of around a 36" - 38" chest depending on desired fit. When laid flat it measures -

Chest - 21 1/2"
Inside arm - 16"
Outside arm - 25"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 30"

The jacket is in good condition for its age and is still very wearable. There are signs of wear and use but nothing major. The leather is still supple and all the stitching appears to be good and strong. There is some wear to the lining and it has worn through into a hole in one of the cuffs as is detailed in picture 8. The jacket is in great condition for its age but please study the pictures before purchasing.

A fantastic leather jacket with loads of great details!
